I haven’t written a favorites post in a while and as it’s the beginning of a new month, I figured why not? As you can see in the picture above, I have some beauty favorites and a sneaky home favorite. This month’s round up includes some drugstore as well as some higher end products that I have been loving throughout September.
First up is the Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Age Defying Eye Cream. I showed this product in my Switching to Natural post. It’s a natural eye cream that claims to smooth fine lines and wrinkles and reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. As I’m only 23, I don’t use this to reduce fine lines as much as prevent them. There’s not much you can do once the wrinkles are there, so we might as well prevent them while we can. Your 20s are a great time to add an eye cream into your routine if you don’t already use one. I always use Lauren Conrad as a good example of this. She’s still young and beautiful, however, she admits to getting too much sun growing up by the beach. If you look at pictures of her, she definitely could have benefitted from some extra SPF and eye cream. I will admit that I do have some pretty gnarly dark circles, though and I really think this eye cream has helped since I’ve been using it. I feel like I use less under eye concealer and look more awake. That’s enough convincing for me.
I was SO surprised by this It Cosmetics Tightline Full Lash Length Black Mascara Primer. It has a teeny tiny brush to get to the very base of your lash line to create the look of fuller lashes. I got it for my lazy days when I wanted to look like I took the time to put on eyeliner but really didn’t. It does a great job of that. I do put my regular mascara over it to complete the look and make my lashes look even fuller and longer as it is a primer. It also contains peptides which are supposed to help with lash growth. I’m not gonna lie, I thought this was complete BS… To my surprise, my lashes were noticeably longer after about a month. I’m obsessed and will definitely be repurchasing this when it dries up or runs out.
I’ve been on the hunt for a bronzer that doesn’t break me out for a while now. The last two bronzers I was using were breaking me out where I contour my cheekbones. I think it has to do with some of the chemicals that I may not know I’m allergic to. I picked up this Physicians Formula Glow-Boosting BB Bronzer SPF 20 in Medium to Dark at CVS. If you have a lighter skin tone, they do have a Light to Medium shade. I think this bronzer has helped a lot and my cheeks are finally clearing up.
While this is a drugstore product, Physicians Formula can get pretty pricey because they use more natural ingredients than other drugstore brands. This bronzer will put you back $14.95. Yeah, it’s kind of expensive but it’s less than I was paying for my Nars Laguna Bronzer that was breaking me out. Most drugstores run buy one get one discounts on Physicians Formula, so if there’s another PF product you have your eye on, it may benefit to grab them both at once.
I have been LOVING wearing purple on my bottom lash line. This is a sample of Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-on Eye Pencil in Plushie. I got it in my Ipsy bag a month or two ago. This isn’t a new thing for me, I’ve worn purple on my waterline on and off for years. Sometimes when I don’t feel like doing a whole eye look I rim my waterline and tightline (upper waterline) with this color and just wear mascara. It adds a little bit of interest to a simple look.
It seems beauty trends may be changing now since we’ve been doing the naked/neutral/no-makeup makeup eye for a couple years now. It’s getting boring. (I think glitter on your lids may be coming back too, I’m trying to contain my excitement :D) I wear this a lot when I’m going out in my waterline instead of black. It looks less stark and can really bring out your eye color. I’ll also use a purple eyeshadow along my bottom lash line to set it and make it a bit more apparent. Give it a try next time, any color will do, but if there’s one that you know makes your eye color look great, do it!
I love me some scented candles as much or maybe more than the next girl. However, I’ve moved home after college recently and my dad has an aversion to them. He has banned me from burning them in the house. Thus, I’ve switched solely to Bath & Body Works Wallflowers. Right now since we’ve moved into Autumn, I have Pumpkin Pecan Waffles plugged in. the scent fills up my whole room. I love walking into my room and smelling the yummy scents. It makes me happy and feel so festive depending on the time of year. I’ll usually buy these seasonally, stocking up with the 4 for $20 deal or if I get the chance, it’s even better to get them when they’re $3 each. I got two Pumpkin Pecan Waffles, a Leaves and a Marshmallow Fireside to tide me over until the Winter scents come out.
